Government installations are under federal mandate to reduce energy usage by 10% per year. The Los Angeles Air Force Base chose to install solar electrical carports to meet that mandate. Solar Electrical Systems was chosen for the project because of their innovative design and efficient installation schedule. The project is unique because it is the first time modules were panelized (7 modules combined into one long panel) in the factory and shipped directly to the site. This sped up the installation process, reduced on-site labor costs, thus reducing the overall system cost. The three-phase project was completed in three months, and will result in over $12.5 million dollars in electric savings over 30 years.
